Level up your engineering skills in this intensive, hands-on course designed for returning innovators. Advanced STEM moves beyond the basics of building simple models and focuses on Reverse Engineering and "Modding"—the art of designing custom parts that fit perfectly with real-world objects.
Students will trade simple tutorials for complex challenges using professional CAD tools and digital calipers. The goal isn't just to print a generic object, but to measure, design, and manufacture functional upgrades for everyday life. By the end of the week, students will have a collection of custom-invented gear they can actually use.
What You Will Learn:
-
Advanced CAD & Interface Design: Master complex curves, lofts, and assembly mates in Onshape to create parts that snap, slide, and lock into existing products.
-
Reverse Engineering: Learn to use digital calipers to measure real-world objects with 0.1mm accuracy, ensuring your designs fit perfectly on the first try.
-
Product Innovation: Design functional upgrades for existing products, such as protective tech armor, ergonomic key grips, and even your own custom Croc shoe charms!
-
Mechanical Integration: Master the engineering principles required to make different parts work together, ensuring your custom designs interact seamlessly with existing mechanical systems.
